Policy on the Use of Inclusive Language

Obras y Proyectos promotes the use of inclusive language in manuscripts submitted for evaluation, in accordance with the principles of respect, equality, and recognition of diversity in the social sciences.

In this regard, authors are encouraged to use unbiased language and to avoid stereotypes, discriminatory expressions, and formulations that reproduce gender inequalities or other forms of exclusion. Inclusive language should be used while maintaining grammatical accuracy, clarity of expression, and the linguistic conventions of the scientific community.

Similarly, authors are encouraged to pay particular attention to the description and analysis of the characteristics of people participating in research, ensuring that the information presented is relevant to the objectives, hypotheses, and results of the study. The inclusion of irrelevant background information or the use of categories that reinforce stereotypes or inappropriate labels should be avoided.

When study results identify relevant differences associated with gender or other sociodemographic variables, it is recommended that these differences be explicitly reported and analyzed, thereby contributing to a more rigorous and contextualized understanding of the social phenomena studied.

To promote transparency, reproducibility, and integrity in scientific research, Obras y Proyectos encourages authors to deposit the research data associated with manuscripts submitted for publication. Authors who are willing to share the data generated or analyzed in their studies should expressly indicate this in the manuscript and provide the exact reference to the repository or external source where the data are available. This practice enables other researchers to verify and reuse the results in a reliable and efficient manner.

Authors are encouraged to share their data bases in reliable, recognized open access repositories in their respective disciplines, provided this does not infringe legal requirements or confidentiality agreements. Likewise, it is essential to describe the structure and format of the data, using appropriate standardized metadata which facilitate  its understanding.

In cases where it is impossible to disseminate the data publicly due to confidentiality agreements, the protection of sensitive information or ethical restrictions, this must be explained in the manuscript.

 

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of datasets and the proper safeguarding of personal or sensitive information. They are also expected to comply with all the national and international regulations regarding the management and dissemination of research data.

The journal will positively value compliance of this policy and reserves the right to request clarification or additional information about the data presented, with the aim of strengthening the transparency and credibility of published scientific research.
