Similarity Policy
The Journal Obras y Proyectos stands that any form of plagiarism unacceptable, which implies that each manuscripts submitted to the review process must meet the following requirements before being accepted.
The submitted manuscript to the Journal Obras y Proyectos must be original and unpublished, with the full knowledge of all authors. The Journal will not publish articles that had been published previously in other languages.
The Journal Obras y Proyectos is committed to the community, therefore, it will implement the necessary retractions and corrections to guarantee the journal’s transparency and due process if errors are detected or reported.
The editorial board will take measures to identify and prevent the manuscript's publication where misconduct has occurred, such as plagiarism or inappropriate similarity, citation manipulation or data fabrication. If any misconduct is found, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. If a misconduct is discovered after the publication, a proper retraction will be issued according to the previously agreed.
The fragmentation of the papers without the proper citation is considered plagiarism, and consequently it does not meet the established criteria for originality. Therefore, the authors are required to include the relevant citations in case their work quotes previous publications. Moreover, the author must be available to attend the requirements of the Editorial Board and the reviewers related to the previous publications about the topic.
All manuscripts submitted for publication will undergo to rigorous peer-review process of and it will be subject a preliminary similarity assessment using Turnitin. If the manuscript does not meet the specified originality criterias, the submitted publication will be rejected.
The corresponding authors are responsible for the material included in their manuscript, such as charts, graphics, pictures, figures and any other content needed for the development of the publication, and states such materials do not infringe any copyright or intellectual property rights.
- A) Self-plagiarism
Self-plagiarism is the act of reproducing one’s own work without significant changes. As such, self-plagiarism may constitute duplicate publication or failure to cite a previously published work.
The journal Obras y Proyectos considers that the inclusion of identical sentences from the authors’ previous works does not constitute plagiarism, provided that they are properly cited. Likewise, the reuse by authors of figures from previously published works is acceptable, provided that the original source is properly acknowledged.
- B) Correction and retraction
Obras y Proyectos is a diamond open access journal, which means that anyone can access and verify its content free of charge and without restrictions. Readers may submit general inquiries or send their questions, comments, and suggestions by email to oyp@ucsc.cl.
If you identify any errors or substantiated ethical concerns, please contact us so that we can initiate the appropriate investigation and take immediate action. If the error or ethical concern is confirmed, the appropriate correction or retraction process will be initiated.
Corrections of significant errors or retractions made after the manuscript has been published online will be published separately as a correction notice
- C) Fraud and investigation
The journal Obras y Proyectos only accepts manuscripts resulting from scientific research or noteworthy pedagogical experiences. Authors must provide, where required, information on the origins of the research or experience whose findings are presented in the manuscript. During the peer-review process, reviewers assess aspects such as methodology, presentation of results, argumentation, and conclusions drawn, in order to ensure the coherence and accuracy of the information presented, as well as its relevance and contribution to the field of study
Authors must retain evidence supporting the information used in their manuscript, as such information, data, and other source materials may be requested by the editor and/or reviewers. Any manipulation, falsification, or fabrication of citations or data will constitute grounds for rejection of the manuscript.
- D) Presentation of a copy of the article
The journal Obras y Proyectos establishes in its Instructions for Authors that manuscripts submitted for publication must not have been previously published or be currently under review by another journal. Articles must be original and unpublished and must be submitted with the consent of all authors, who must agree to maintain these conditions throughout the editorial process until a final decision is made regarding the submission.
This does not preclude the submission of a manuscript to the journal Obras y Proyectos after it has been rejected by another peer-reviewed journal, provided that the editorial process at the journal to which it was previously submitted has been completed.
