Suction caissons may be used in the future as foundations for offshore wind turbines. The research programme includes laboratory testing, larger scale field testing and theoretical modelling. This paper concentrates on the experimental results obtained in combined CYCLIC loading tests on monopod caissons. Results obtained for different values of vertical load are presented and interpreted. They proved to obey the Masing rule. Caisson uplift or settlement was found to be a function of the vertical load.
