An adequate soil moisture content allows the soil to reach its maximum density when compacted, improving soil cohesion and stability. In some soils, the optimal moisture content is lower than the natural moisture content, which requires its reduction through exposure outdoors. However, this desiccation is seasonal, being lower in mid-season months. Determining the soil desiccation rate in each season allows for planning road construction and ensuring the availability of soil with optimal moisture. This work presents a procedure for predicting soil moisture reduction through experimental simulations in a climatic chamber, considering temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation. The results allow for efficient and sustainable planning of earthworks, optimizing the reuse of excavated soil in road infrastructure projects and contributing to the reduction of environmental impact and costs.
