The digitalization of the construction industry has highlighted the need to incorporate innovative methodologies that improve productivity and project management. In this context, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become an important tool, facilitating data integration, interdisciplinary coordination, and process optimization throughout the project life cycle. International literature shows that its implementation reduces costs, time, and errors, while fostering innovation and collaboration. The aim of this article is to analyse the evolution and role of BIM in productivity and project management in Chile, based on evidence from the National BIM Surveys of 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022. The study seeks to understand perceived benefits, existing barriers, and the trends guiding the transition toward digital transformation. The methodology corresponds to a descriptive-comparative analysis, based on data from these surveys and complemented with specialized literature. The results show sustained growth in BIM adoption, increasing from 39% of professionals with experience in 2013 to 80% in 2022, with a notable rise in regular users and roles linked to project management. Evidence indicates that BIM improves interdisciplinary coordination, cost control, and design efficiency, although gaps remain in its application during construction phases and in the widespread adoption of standards. In conclusion, BIM is positioned as a valuable tool for productivity and digital transformation in the Chilean construction sector, requiring public policies and organizational capacities to accelerate its consolidation.
